Wallets
Supported wallets, how to connect, and platform-specific guidance for using DibDex on desktop and mobile devices.
Overview
A cryptocurrency wallet is required to use DibDex. Your wallet serves as your primary identity on the platform โ there are no passwords. When you connect your wallet, you prove ownership by signing a message (no gas fees), and a secure session is created. During onboarding you can choose a username and profile picture โ see Accounts & Profile for details.
๐ Supported Wallets
DibDex supports the following wallets directly:
- MetaMask โ The most widely used browser extension wallet. Available as a browser extension and mobile app
- Coinbase Wallet โ Coinbase's self-custody wallet, available as a browser extension and mobile app
- Phantom โ Multi-chain wallet with browser extension and mobile app
- Rabby โ Security-focused browser extension wallet with transaction simulation
- Trust Wallet โ Mobile-first wallet by Binance, also available as a browser extension
- Brave Wallet โ Built into the Brave browser, no extension required
- Binance Web3 Wallet โ Binance's self-custody wallet integrated into the Binance app
- Safe โ Multi-signature wallet for teams and organizations
- Exodus โ Desktop and mobile wallet with built-in exchange
- Rainbow โ Mobile-first Ethereum wallet with a focus on user experience
๐ฑ WalletConnect
In addition to the wallets listed above, DibDex supports WalletConnect โ an open protocol that lets you connect virtually any compatible mobile wallet by scanning a QR code.
How WalletConnect works:
- Select WalletConnect from the wallet selection screen
- A QR code is displayed
- Open your mobile wallet app and scan the QR code
- Approve the connection in your wallet
- Your wallet is now connected to DibDex
๐ก WalletConnect supports hundreds of wallets beyond the ones listed above โ if your wallet supports WalletConnect, it works with DibDex.
Other Wallets
If your wallet injects an Ethereum provider into the browser (the standard way browser extension wallets work), it will appear under the Other option in the wallet selection screen.
๐ฅ๏ธ Desktop Browser Compatibility
Chromium-Based Browsers
Google Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all support browser extension wallets. The majority of wallets listed above โ MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Phantom, Rabby, Trust Wallet, and others โ are available as extensions for these browsers. This gives you the widest selection of wallet options.
Firefox
Firefox also supports browser extension wallets. MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, and several others offer Firefox extensions. The selection is slightly smaller than Chromium browsers but covers the most popular wallets.
Safari
Safari does not support traditional browser extension wallets. If you use Safari as your primary browser, we strongly recommend using WalletConnect to connect a mobile wallet, or searching the Mac App Store for Safari-compatible wallet options.
๐ Connecting Your Wallet
- Click the Connect button in the top-right corner of the navigation bar
- Select your wallet from the list
- Approve the connection request in your wallet
- Sign a message to verify ownership (this is free โ no gas fees, no transaction)
- You are now logged in
๐ก๏ธ The sign-in message proves you own the wallet address. It does not approve any spending or grant access to your funds.
๐ฒ Mobile Experience
Recommended: MetaMask In-App Browser
For the best mobile experience, we strongly recommend opening DibDex inside the MetaMask mobile app's built-in browser. This has proven to be the most reliable method โ the wallet is always connected, transactions confirm smoothly, and there is no app-switching friction.
To use MetaMask's in-app browser:
- Open the MetaMask app on your phone
- Tap the browser icon (compass/globe) at the bottom
- Navigate to the DibDex URL
- You are automatically connected to your MetaMask wallet
iOS and iPadOS
WalletConnect works well on iOS and iPadOS. You can use DibDex in Safari or any browser and connect to your mobile wallet via the WalletConnect QR code flow without issues.
Android
โ ๏ธ WalletConnect connecting to a wallet app on the same Android device does not currently work reliably. This is a known limitation of how Android handles app-switching between the browser and wallet apps.
Workarounds for Android users:
- Use MetaMask's in-app browser (recommended) โ Open DibDex directly inside the MetaMask app to avoid app-switching entirely
- Use a desktop browser with a browser extension wallet (MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase, etc.)
- Use WalletConnect across devices โ Open DibDex on a second device (another phone, tablet, or computer) and scan the WalletConnect QR code with your Android wallet app
๐ Network Requirements
DibDex operates on a single blockchain network at a time. When you connect your wallet, the platform checks that you are on the correct network. If you are on the wrong network, you will be prompted to switch. Most wallets handle this automatically โ just approve the network switch request when it appears.
๐ Wallet Support
DibDex does not provide direct support for any wallet software. If you experience issues with your wallet โ installation, configuration, transactions not confirming, or account recovery โ please contact the wallet vendor directly through their official website or support channels linked above.
๐ Protecting Your Wallet
Your wallet's private keys and seed phrase (also called a recovery phrase or mnemonic) are the only way to control your funds. Treat them like the keys to a bank vault.
- Never share your private keys or seed phrase with anyone โ not with DibDex, not with support agents, not with other users
- DibDex will never ask you for your private keys, seed phrase, or wallet password โ any message or website requesting this information is a scam
- Store your seed phrase offline โ write it down on paper and keep it in a secure location. Do not store it in screenshots, cloud storage, or digital notes
- Be cautious of phishing โ always verify you are on the correct DibDex URL before connecting your wallet. Fake sites may impersonate DibDex to steal your credentials
๐จ If someone contacts you claiming to be from DibDex and asks for your private key or seed phrase, it is fraudulent. Report it and do not respond.
